Susan Reed's catchy adaptation of this traditional English song explores textures and all kinds of creatures who live over in the meadow. This traditional rhyming tale takes children on a counting journey through Jill McDonald s colorful meadow scenes, meeting a variety of busy animal families along the way. Children will relish the vivid descriptions of the animals and their activities, from a bumpy mother toad and her baby basking in the sun to a hairy mother spider and her ten children spinning webs in a den.

from Barefoot Books get gold stars from me for the Animal Boogie for this.  A good idea is to pop the CD on in theafternoons. It is the perfect weapon for getting that excess energy burnt off before bedtime!
What You Get,  32 Colour Pages: Wonderful, vibrant and bold pictures to look at whilst reading. There are lots of patterns, colours, shapes, children and other animals to look at. The pictures help to understand what animal they have to pretend to be and dance to. Perfect to lead your child through every step of the song. It makes it easy for us adults as well. The lyrics are printed on each page making it easy to follow and know when to turn each page.
Singalong CD:  The tune, especially the chorus is so catchy, you will be humming it, mouthing the words and tapping toes almost straight away!  This 32 page Award Winning paperback Barefoot Books-Animal Boogie with Singalong CD-Barefoot Books  Animal Boogie takes everyone on a fantastic and fun journey through the Indian jungle.  The book is a series of “down in the jungle” segments, with different animals.  As you turn each page the guessing game begins.
Each animal is being watched by a different child. The children are also a good mix, including children of different ethnic groups and even a wheelchair user. There are plenty of opportunities for talking points. Pop the CD in though and the book is transformed. Sing along, Learn about the animals; create your own dance moves to stomp like an elephant, flap like a bird and so much more!
The music on the CD is very lively and perfect for dancing to. It is just what a little one wants to listen to in fact. Fred Penner who sings on the CD has a great voice for this, putting the right tones to fit the lyrics in the book. This makes it a really fun experience and easy to follow. He even does the sounds as well.
WARNING – You may end up singing The Animal Boogie in your head all day in the most unusual of places.
Every child will have their own special moves and favourites. I know my daughter loves the elephant as she can stomp around along with slithering around on the floor like a snake.

Kites-How To Have Fun With Your Children By Flying A Kite.

Description: Two light-wind-kites in the sky c...Image via Wikipedia How To Have Fun With Your Children By Flying A Kite. It is always a lot of fun when you are able to find things that you can enjoy with your children on a weekend afternoon – things that will be fun, and will also create a memory that your children will cherish for a long time to come – and while there are plenty of different things you can do to accomplish this, one thing you might not have thought of is taking your child out to fly a kite! While a lot of people have a tendency to think of flying a kite as something to be done at the beach, you can actually fly a kite regardless of where you live, and as long as you take the right approach, you will be able to turn it into something that you and your child can enjoy together!
Have a good kite: There is no need for you to spend a bunch of money on a really great kite, but you do need to make sure you buy something that will be sturdy enough to hold itself together, and that will be constructed well enough that it will actually fly!

Pick a good day: If you do not have wind, you will not be able to get a kite to fly; you do not need to have a storm whipping through your neighborhood before you can get a kite to fly, but you will need to make sure the day you have chosen has a strong, steady wind making its way above the ground.
Pick a good spot: Even before the right “kite flying day” arrives, you need to make sure you have a spot picked out so that you will know where to go; a good kite flying spot will give you enough room to run so that you can get the kite going, and it will be absent of any trees for a wide stretch of land.
When you come to a day when you have a bit of free time and it seems like the wind is agreeable, pack up some food and some water, drive to the designated spot with your child, and enjoy a memorable day of flying your kite!

Good Manners-Training Your Child To Have- Good Manners

My sister and her baby.Image via WikipediaGood Manners-Training Your Child To Have- Good Manners.  Many parents with teenagers lament the fact that their children do not have good manners, and they wonder why this is the case - failing to realize that it was up to them to teach their children to have good manners! Good manners go beyond simply saying "please" and "thank you" (although this is certainly a part of good manners!), and also extends to such things as courtesy, respect, and consideration; and as a parent, you must realize that these things do not just happen to show up in your children, but rather, your children must be trained!
Good Manners-Training Your Child To Have- Good Manners.  Be a model: The first thing you need to remember is that your children will emulate what they see from you, which means that you need to have good manners in all areas of your life if you hope for your children to end up with good manners down the road. Being a model also means that you should "model" for your children the behavior you hope to see from them; if you give them something and they forget to say thank you, say "Thank you, Mom" (or "Thank you, Dad") to remind your children to say this to you.

Good Manners-Training Your Child To Have- Good Manners.  Explain the importance: You also need to help your children to understand that manners are not just "something to do"; manners are an important part of finding favor in all areas of their life, as people will take more kindly to them if they are treating others the way they would want to be treated.
Have patience: Finally, you need to realize that manners take time, so do not get upset with (or bothered by) your children as they catch on; keep working with them, and keep helping them improve so that they will have great manners as they grow older.
The younger you start with your children, the better shape you will be in; but even if you have waited a while to start training your children in manners, it is never too late to start - and it is always important!
